What does your business provide?
My shop is custom framing. I provide framing services for artwork as well as memorabilia, historical artifacts, keepsakes… the list is long. I do offer some installation for my clients, as well as minor restoration of frames.
What made you want to start your Business?
Years ago my Husband and I sold a business we ran together and I found myself looking for something to do. As I painted and framed some of my own work, I was somewhat familiar with what is required. We were fortunate to know Joe and Adeline Doucet, who owned this shop – under its original name “First Choice Framing”- when they were thinking of retiring. I worked with them for a period of time to ensure it would be a good fit for all of us. I was blessed with the time I had with Joe and Adeline. I think of them as my mentors, not in the framing craft alone, but in the honesty & respect they had in dealing with their clients. They taught me well.
I had this business under its original name for over 5 years before moving it to my home on James Street in 2008. With that move came the change in the shop name …. Frames on James! We have a large house here and after our children moved out we decided to use the extra space for the shop. It has been a great move. I have a large parking space for clients and the move has allowed me to have a dog! (Anyone who has come into the shop has become familiar with him!)
When did you join the Chamber of Commerce & how have we helped?
I have been a member of the YACC for over 10 years now. It has been a great source of information for the day to day running of the business as well as a networking center with other business people in the area. The YACC updates keep me on top of new offers and discounts.
