In partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia, the Yarmouth & Area Chamber of Commerce is offering 3 professional development classes starting in September 2023. These 10 week courses are free, customized to your needs, and provincially certified, with a value in excess of $1,500 per person.

Seats are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first served basis.

Classes will be virtual so you must have a computer with a webcam to interact properly.

  • In order to graduate you must attend 80% of classes

This self-reflective program is intended for business owners and managers like you who are running a business and/or leading a team of people and who want to develop and/or strengthen their leadership skills.

More than ever before business leaders and those managing people are called to a higher place in terms of their vision, alignment with purpose, ethical practices, decision-making abilities, creative problem solving skills, and success with engaging and inspiring employees. The most transformational leaders will tell you that achieving this and sustaining it on a consistent basis is not for the faint of heart, especially for those who are committed to building their organization as an “Employer of Choice”.

Lisette, owner of ThinkSmart Training and Consulting, is a Harmonious Workplace Development expert who has worked with more than 60 Nova Scotia businesses. She helps create happier and more productive workplaces by enhancing trust, improving leadership, and developing communication skills. She has done countless mediation and coaching sessions with employees and studied HR through the University of New Brunswick.

About Lisa Olie

With over 35 years of customer service in retail and wholesale businesses in addition to being an instructor, Lisa is able to train from the perspective of her lived experience. Currently operating a busy retail store in Halifax, Lisa is aware of current customer service trends as well as traditional service strategies for any business. Lisa understands in person, online, telephone, and social media service techniques, and teaches them in a manner that is easy to digest and incorporate into everyday service opportunities.

Customer Service Excellence

Tuesdays 8:30am-12:30pm | Starting April 26th 2023 for 10 weeks

This program creates the opportunity for you to provide the best experience possible for your customers. You will explore key elements of customer service standards, gain clarity on your customers’ expectations, study the seven types of challenging customers, and learn how to navigate difficult customer situations.

You will explore in-person, telephone and online/email customer interactions in various business settings to help you analyze your current customer experience and develop customer service strategies tailored to your business. You will learn techniques to improve internal customer service to help make you a better customer to your suppliers and business community.
