In partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia, the Yarmouth & Area Chamber of Commerce is offering 7 professional development classes starting in September 2021. These 10 week courses are free, customized to your needs and provincially certified, with a value in excess of $1,500 per person.

Seats are limited and will be offered on a first-come, first serve basis.

Classes will be virtual so you must have a computer with a webcam to interact properly.


  • Must be an owner or employee of a business based in Nova Scotia.
  • Be willing to complete detailed registration form.
  • In order to graduate you must attend 80% of classes.

Social Media for Business

Those who take this course will leave with a strong understanding as to what to post on Social Media, when to post it, how to schedule it to save time, how to design it, and how to read the data to ensure you’re maximizing your efforts.

  • Establishing your brand image (colors/fonts)
  • Graphic design for Social Media using Canva
  • Ad copy – what to write with your posts
  • How to create a content calendar

Financial Management

Fridays 8:30am-12:30pm | Starting Oct 1st, 2021 for 10 weeks

This course will enable you to be able to carry on informed and intelligent conversations with your accountant. It is designed to take accounting principles that may have seemed complex and very ‘math’ based and getting past those roadblocks to arrive at understanding. This program should make the often uncomfortable hat of ‘accounting’ or ‘book keeping’ easier to wear.
